Obituary of Dovie Tobin Burton

Funeral services for Dovie Lelora Parrish Tobin Burton, age 84, of Roanoke, will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at 11:00 AM from Concord Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jason Cawthon, Elder Lewis Culver, and Rev. Gary Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. She will lie in state at the church for one hour preceding services.
Mrs. Burton passed away on October 31, 2016.
Survivors include: her husband, Ned E. Burton; one daughter, Laurie Howe (Harry Clark); three sons, David Tobin (wife, Dorothy), Wayne Tobin (wife, Nancy), and Parrish Tobin; nine grandchildren, Sarepta Archila (Juan), Daphne Jacobsen (Ryan), Amber Tobin, Cory Howe (Britni), Bill Tobin (Danielle), Courtney Howe (Andrew), Bruce Tobin (Jessie), Dakota Tobin, and Grace Howe; and several special nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bill Tobin, Bruce Tobin, Dakota Tobin, Cory Howe, Juan Archila, and Ryan Jacobsen.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Burton was born on January 17, 1932, the daughter of Elder Luther Martin Parrish and Verna Mabel Bugg Parrish. She was a member of Concord Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Tobin; her parents; four sisters, Ruth Liles, Elsie Ritch, Julia Storey, and June Parrish; and three brothers, Raymond Parrish, Dennis Parrish, and Hubert Parrish.
Mrs. Burton spent her life in devoted service to others through the American Red Cross and chiropractic assistant services. She is well remembered by the citizens of Randolph County who she helped in times of great need. She was also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

About Us
Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
