Obituary of Julia Ann Brooks

Funeral services for Julia Ann “Judy” Brooks, age 71, of Roanoke, will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM from Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Sledge and Rev. Edgar Plunkett, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, December 27, 2015. Mrs. Brooks will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services beginning on Monday.
Mrs. Brooks passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015, at LaFayette Nursing Home.
Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Earl (husband, Willard, Jr.) of Roanoke; one son, Phillip Brooks of Joppa, AL; and three grandchildren, Dylan Baldwin, Ali Pike, and Aiden Brooks.
Pallbearers will be Allen Ramsey, Barry Plunkett, Kenneth Plunkett, Riley Earl, Dwayne Foster, and Cody Foster.
A lifelong resident of Roanoke, Mrs. Brooks was born on February 2, 1944, the daughter of Roy Pearson and Vicie Parker Phillips. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and had worked for Palm Beach as a presser. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carey Joe Brooks; one brother, Winston Phillips; and one daughter-in-law, Kelli Brooks.

About Us
Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
