Obituary of John Craig Elliott

Funeral services for John Craig Elliott, age 62, of Wadley will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Wadley First Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Vaughn, Rev. Zenus Windsor, Rev. Michael Gibson, and Rev. Matthew Vickers officiating. Burial will follow at Wadley City Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2015. Mr. Elliott will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Sunday.
Mr. Elliott passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Vaughn Elliott of Wadley; one daughter, Jeni Elliott of Olive Branch, MS; two stepsons, Michael Gibson and Randy Hadden, both of Dothan; four grandchildren, Blake and Sellers Gibson and Madison and Katlyn Hadden; one sister-in-law, Sarah Vickers (husband, Mike); and one brother, William Scott Elliott (wife, Jill) of Fayetteville, GA.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Clark, Tommy Hicks, David Fisher, Ray Sprayberry, Bruce Albright, and Cele Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of Abanda Baptist, Pat Whaley, and Rodney Walker.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Elliott was born on May 10, 1952, the son of John Milton “Bill” Elliott and Carolyn Green Elliott Sayers. He was a member of Abanda Baptist Church and owner of J-Par Trucking and Elliott Construction. Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his parents and one son, John Wallace Elliott.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
