Obituary of Rachel Grubbs Boyd

OBITUARY Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Grubbs Boyd, of Roanoke, age 79, will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at 11:00 am from the First Baptist Church, Roanoke with Rev. Larry Armstrong officiating. Burial to follow in Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Mrs. Boyd died Friday, March 5, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her husband, Henry Glen Boyd, SR of Roanoke; three daughters, Rebecca Boyd Madden of Rome, GA, Linda Boyd Bottcher of Auburn, Ginger Boyd Shelnutt of Montgomery; one son, Glen Boyd, JR of Roanoke; one brother, Jack Grubbs of Lanett; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild. Pallbearers will be Glen Boyd, JR, Robert Madden, JR, Gage Bottcher, Tod Bottcher, Delen Boyd and Joe Shelnutt. Mrs. Boyd was born August 23, 1930, the daughter of William Thomas and Hattie Mae White Grubbs. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roanoke, had lived in Rome, GA for the past four years and had been a homemaker. Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents.
