Funeral services for Vivian Deloris Carter, age 77, of Roanoke will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014, at 11:00 AM from Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church with Rev. L.B. Houston officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, September 21, 2014. Mrs. Carter will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Monday, September 22, 2014.
Mrs. Carter passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Bethany House Hospice in Auburn.
Survivors include her husband, Lindsay Carter, Sr.; one daughter, Tatanya Brown (husband, Albert) of Montgomery; one son, Lindsay Carter, Jr.(wife, Jeanetta) of Jackson, MS; Goddaughter, Lois Reese of LaGrange, Ga; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friend, Colley Burns of Dadeville.
A Montgomery native, Mrs. Carter was born on December 17, 1936, the daughter of Areon McCoy and Beadie T. Woodson. She was a member of Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church and was a retired librarian for Knight-Enloe Elementary School. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents.
