Obituary of Dorris Boyd Handley

Funeral services for Dorris Boyd Handley, age 89, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 1:00 PM from Roanoke First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Barrow officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-1:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2014. Mrs. Handley passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Traylors Nursing Center. Survivors include: one daughter, Loretta Handley Baker(husband, Dwight) of Dothan; one son, Ben Moore Handley III(wife, Margie) of Chelsea; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Craft of Pensacola, FL. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Handley was born on September 17, 1924, the daughter of Hoyt and Bertie Haynes Boyd. She was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church and worked as a bank teller. Mrs. Handley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben Handley; one sister, Brenace Birdsong; and one brother, Brenford Boyd.
