Obituary of Bob Smallwood

Funeral services for Tommy Nelson "Bob" Smallwood, age 76, of Lanett, will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at 4:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow at Potash Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday. Mr. Smallwood died Sunday, August 17, 2014, at East Alabama Medical Center. Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Clay of Valley, Gail Maddox of Lanett and Barbara Cobb of LaGrange, GA; one son, Phillip Smallwood of Monroe, GA; three sisters, Peggy Sue Ware and Betty Ann Nix, both of Tignall, GA and Marie Smallwood of LaGrange, GA; three brothers, Johnny Smallwood of Tignall, GA, Charlie Smallwood of LaGrange, GA and Leonard Knight of Roanoke; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Billy Wayne Dean, Jonathan Sheppard, Eric Garrard, Mark Knight and Shane Smallwood. A Randolph County native, Mr. Smallwood was born March 28, 1938, the son of H. T. and Cora Fowler Smallwood. He was a self-employed logger. Mr. Smallwood was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lerline Mulkey Smallwood; one son, Tony Smallwood; three brothers and three sisters.
