Funeral services for Blondell Gray Potts, age 105, of Roanoke, will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2014, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wendell Rush and Rev. Ricky Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30-8:00 PM on Saturday, August 2, 2014.
Mrs. Potts passed away Friday, August 1, 2014, at Roanoke Healthcare.
Survivors include one son, Jack Potts (wife, Charlotte) of Roanoke; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons: Chris Potts, Joe Potts, Nick Potts, Will Potts, Cash Busbin, Ben Towler, and Cody Towler. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-great-grandsons Coye Potts, Colton Potts, Austin Towler, and Nathan Towler.
Mrs. Potts was born on June 11, 1909, the daughter of Elijah and Hassletine Dollar Gray. She was a member of Forrester Chapel United Methodist Church and was a spinner for Handley Mills. Mrs. Potts was preceded in death by her husband, George "Pate" Potts; son, Hubert Potts; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Potts; granddaughter, Kimberly Potts Towler; three sisters, Gertrude Gray, Tessie Atkins, and Minnie Norris; five brothers, Dewey Gray, Jessie Gray, John Gray, Crawford Gray and Bradford Gray.
