Funeral services for George Mickle "Mickey" Young, age 58, of Roanoke, will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 3:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Billy Puckett officiating. Burial will follow at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 19th.
Mr. Young died suddenly on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Hendley Young of Roanoke; one daughter, Misty Young of North Carolina; one sister, Penny Holloway of Roanoke; one brother, Ricky Young of Five Points; three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Holloway, Chris Holloway, Jeff Young, Jason Young, William Adams, Dylan Hendley, Jeremy Cummings and Jody Bozeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Bozeman, Donnie Anthony, James Kimble, Pete Holloway, Jamie Young and Britney Hendley.
A lifelong Roanoke resident, Mr. Young was born March 26, 1956, in Heard County, Georgia, the son of James Edgar and Thelma Grace Mickle Young. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church and had been employed with Air Control in Roanoke.
