Obituary of Fay Bassett Adcock

Funeral services for Fay Bassett Adcock , age 79, of Roanoke, will be held Monday, February 24, 2014, at 11:00 am from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Thorne officiating. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, February 23rd. Mrs. Adcock will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services on Monday. Mrs. Adcock died Saturday, February 22, 2014, at East Alabama Medical Center. Survivors include two sons, Dempsey Roberts (Kathy) of Roanoke and Stanley Sellers (Kathy) of Five Points; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Bassett, Wayne Bassett, Felix Weathers, James Weathers, Douglas Hubbard and Randy Adamson. A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mrs. Adcock was born May 23, 1934, the daughter of Leonard Thomas and Mary Will Jeter Bassett. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist and had worked as a nurse's aide at Randolph County Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Adcock; two brothers, Carlos & Ray Bassett; and a sister, Imogene Williams.
