Obituary of Ruth Evelyn Owens Woodlee

Funeral services for Ruth Evelyn Owens Woodlee, age 79, of Roanoke, will be held Monday, February 24, 2014, at 2:00 pm from Rock Mills Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Frank Foster Jr. and Rev. S. T. Janney officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, February 23rd. Mrs. Woodlee will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services on Monday. Mrs. Woodlee died Friday, February 21, 2014, at Wedowee Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Charles Joseph "Joe" Woodlee of Roanoke; three daughters, Vickie Cummings (Willie Steve) of Alex City, Runita Weldon of Valley and Debra Vaughn (Ken) of Roanoke; one son, Wayne Brown (Connie) of Piedmont; one step-son, Charles "Bo" Waldrep (Dawn) of Roanoke; two sisters, Isabell Golden of Anniston and Elizabeth Nance of California; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A longtime Randolph County resident, Mrs. Woodlee was born April 10, 1934, in Cleburne County, the daughter of Solomon and Minnie Chapman Owens. She was a member of Rock Mills Church of the Nazarene and had retired from Candlewick Yarn Mills after 25+ years. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Patricia Kaylor and Lynn Woody; two grandchildren, Paige and Matthew Woody.
