Funeral services for James "Jimmy" Carey Overton (aka Alabama Worm), age 66, of Roanoke, will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at 2:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jody Overton and Rev. Mike Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 pm on Monday, February 3rd.
Mr. Overton died Friday, January 31st, at Wedowee Hospital.
Survivors include his mother, Era Louise Overton of Roanoke; two brothers, Billy Joe Overton of Alamagordo, NM, and William Elton Overton of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Denson Dunlap, Barry Rollins, Kevin Taylor, Charles Overton, Joey Overton, and John Overton.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Overton was born on May 28, 1947, the son of William Mack and Era Louise Smith Overton. He was a member of True Faith Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Homer Clifford Overton.
