Mrs. Wood was born and raised in the Roanoke area and spent several years in Colorado. She was an organizer, a planner, a manager, a sewing factory worker, a baker of pies, a minister's wife, a gardener, and an avid reader of the Holy Bible. She taught kindness and respect for all people. She expected a firm handshake and a smile. Gracious hospitality was her crown, and she was known as "the one who prays". In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one's favorite charity or church in memory of Mrs. Wood.
