Obituary of William (Bill) Herald Pool

Funeral services for William (Bill) Herald Pool, age 67, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at 2:00 PM from High Pine Baptist Church with the Rev. Richie Farrow officiating. Burial will follow in the High Pine Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2013. Mr. Pool will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 1:00 PM on Sunday. Mr. Pool died Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Pool of Roanoke; mother-in-law, Bernice Horton; one sister, Barbara (husband, David) Stewart of Roanoke; and two brothers, Hiram (wife, Linda) Pool of Longwood, FL, and Walter B. Pool of Orlando, FL. Pallbearers will be the American Legion Members of Randolph County. Honorary pallbearers will be all other American Legion members. A Huntsville, Alabama native, Mr. Pool was born on January 22, 1946, the son of Robert and Nellie Green Pool. He was a member of High Pine Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post. Mr. Pool was a retired police officer with the City of Orlando, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family is accepting flowers or requests donations be made to the High Pine Baptist Church Building Fund.
