Graveside services for Barbara Hunter, age 78, of Oxford, FL, will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013, at 10:00 AM from High Pine Baptist Church in Roanoke, AL, with the Rev. Richie Farrow officiating. Burial will immediately follow with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Hunter passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Avante Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Ocala, FL.
Survivors include: two daughters, Patty Hunter Hanson (husband, Frank) of Apopka, FL, and Thressa Hunter Maier (husband, Jon) of Oxford, FL; one son, Hugh Edward Hunter (wife, Lisa) of Orange Spring, FL; five grandchildren, Meighan Hanson Engilis, Charles-Patrick Hanson, Cy Hunter, Brecca Maier, and Kara Maier; two great-grandchildren, Iain Engilis and Brylee Hunter; and one brother, Lesley Wooten of Augusta, GA.
A Tennessee native, Ms. Hunter was born on January 21, 1935, the daughter of O.C. and Ruth Dixon Wooten. She grew up in Roanoke, Alabama, with her three brothers before moving to Florida. Ms. Hunter was Baptist by faith and a retired retail sales clerk. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kenneth A. Wooten and Lemuel Wooten.
