Funeral services for Joe M. Kitchens, age 83, of Roanoke, will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Frank Foster Sr. and Rev. Frank Foster Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Mr. Kitchens died Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Traylor Nursing Center.
Survivors include one son, Joseph M. Kitchens, Jr. (wife, Brenda) of Robertsdale; one sister, Ida Delle Bowen of Manchester, Ga.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Kitchens, Jonathan Kitchens, David Kitchens, Oliver Kitchens, Johnny Ernest and Gary Gillespie.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Kitchens was born June 6, 1930, son of Edward Oliver and Jessie Lester Kitchens. He was a member of Rock Mills Church of the Nazarene and had retired from Seegars Auto Parts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Moon Kitchens.
Memorials may be floral or the family suggests contributions to Rock Mills Church of the Nazarene.
