Funeral services for Mary Sue Hester Hollaway age 86 of Roanoke will be held Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM from Big Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Whaley and Rev. S.T. Janney officiating. Burial will follow in the Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 from 5 till 8 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
Mrs. Hollaway passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Traylor's Nursing Center.
Mrs. Hollaway is survived by two daughters, Judy (husband Larry) Woody of Roanoke and Becky (husband Deryl) Wood of Anniston; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; two special sisters-in-law, Cordell Adamson of Wedowee and Reatha Daniel of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be grandsons David Hughes, Darrell Hughes, Pat Hughes, Chris Hughes, Scott Woody and Adam Wood.
A native of Randolph County, Mrs. Hollaway was born August 21, 1927 the daughter of George and Jessie Lou McCarley Hester. She was retired from Russell Athletics and Playtex as a sewing machine operator and a faithful member of Big Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Hasel Hollaway; one daughter, Carole Hughes; two great-grandchildren, Paige and Matthew Woody; one sister, Edith Brown.
Momo Holly was a wonderful biscuit maker, loved to travel and cherished her family.
