Obituary of Ernest Earl Kelley

Funeral services for Ernest Earl "Buck" Kelley, age 73, of Roanoke, will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 2:00 pm from Freedom Harbor Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Baswell officiating. Burial will follow at Potash Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 10th. Mr. Kelley will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 1:00 pm on Wednesday. Mr. Kelley died Monday, September 9, 2013, at East Alabama Medical Center. Survivors include three sons, Donnie Kelley (wife, Bridget) of Lineville, David Kelley (wife, Renee) of LaGrange, and James Kelley (wife, Elaine) of Roanoke; five sisters, Faye Hand Boyd of Roanoke, Mary Nell Redden of Roanoke, Nadine Herren of Morrisons Crossroads, Eris Watson of Roanoke, and Melba Jeter of Roanoke; one brother, Robert "Bobby" Kelley (wife, Nedra) of Woodland; twenty grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren. Mr. Kelley was born September 10, 1939, son of Robert A. and Odesser McDaniel Kelley. He attended Freedom Harbor Baptist Church and had been self-employed as a carpenter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Virginia Rowe Kelley; his parents; one daughter, Patricia Kelley Tyler; one great-granddaughter, Jasmine Smith; one brother, William Kelley; one sister, Catherine Kelley. The family will accept flowers or contributions to the Ernest Kelley Memorial Fund (c/o 319 College Street, Roanoke, AL 36274).
