Obituary of James Fred Taft

OBITUARY Funeral services for, James Fred Taft, age 90, of Roanoke, will be held, 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 27, 2013, from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeff Burns officiating. Burial to follow in Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Phillip Gorham, Daniel Benefield, Billy Ray Taft, Alan Taft, Keith Taft and Jim Dunn. Mr. Taft died, Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Bethany House. Mr. Taft is survived by his wife of seventy years, Sue Cato Taft of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Taft was born, August 19, 1922, the son of Will and Ella Huey Taft. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, had worked as a self-employed electrician and served in the United States Navy during WWII. Mr. Taft was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Waymon, Woodrow, Ray, Barney and Charles Taft; two sisters, Earlene Taft and Montez Taft.
