Obituary of Jacquelyn C. Adamson

Graveside services for Jacquelyn C. "Jackie" Adamson, age 87, of Franklin, GA, formerly of Atlanta, will be held 2:00 pm CST, Thursday, April 4, 2013, from Adamson Cemetery, Franklin, GA. Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm CST on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Mrs. Adamson died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Adamson is survived by sons, Joel (wife Mindee) Adamson and David (wife Leslie) and daughters, Leslie (husband Michael) Fennell, Celia Adamson (husband Ken Riley), and Angie (husband Jim) Chesnut; fifteen grandchildren; Jennifer Adamson, Nathan (wife Elizabeth and children Lawson, Caleb, and Luke), Andrew, Alexandra Nicole, Danielle, Evan, Renee, Jason and Valerie Adamson; Jacquelyn Riley; Marie, Wesley, Lindsey, and Jamey Chesnut. She is also survived by her sister Charis (husband Joe) Jennings of Rome, Georgia. Mrs. Adamson was born January 13, 1926, the daughter of Marvin Nesbit and Dolo Griffin Copeland. She graduated from Fulton County School System and Greenleaf School of Business. While working as executive secretary to the president of Atlanta Envelope Company she met her late husband, Hugh Dorsey Adamson, and married on December 27, 1947. She spent the next years raising a family of two sons and three daughters. In 1973 she and her husband moved to Glenn, GA. During her years in Glenn she served as manager of the Glenn Contract Post Office until its closing. She was a charter member of the Heard County chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was also a member of the Heard County Historical Society and the Silver Bullets Bowling League. She also served for many years as a poll worker at the Southwest Heard County Voting Precinct. Mrs. Adamson was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Dorsey Adamson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to one's favorite charity.
