to know dot was to love her, she had truly became a major part of my life. they tell us when we work in healthcare that we bless the ones we are caring for but she truly blessed me. she had become my favorite so fast and i was so ready to see her everyday. Each day was something new we would talk about. I’d sit for hours just holding her hand and talking to her and sharing many laughs. she’d make you laugh until your stomach hurt, she had a contagious smile, a contagious laugh and the purest heart one could have. She would give you her last and not think twice about it. I remember i would always say “ms. ussery” and here she would say “aw, call me dot” she loved for us to call her dot. she always told me i was like a daughter to her, the daughter she never had. she played one big role and to care for her was the most rewarding thing i could have ever done. she truly blessed me more than i could put into words. she was most definitely loved and will truly be missed. i’d always paint her nails and everytime it was always “can they be light pink” she loved her some pink. i have so many memories and good things to say about her she will still be number one in my heart, she will be the one that I’ll never forget out of all of my residents. i can’t thank the good lord above enough for allowing us to cross paths and for us to know each other. i’m deeply saddened and truly heartbroken but she knew I loved her always and I’m so thankful she knew that day in and day out, every day before i went home I’d make sure I stopped by her room and would say “bye I love you” and it was always “bye I love you too”. oh lord i remember she wanted us to take a trip to the mountains and go to Tennessee. i told dot pretty much everything. she was truly a best friend. she never had an enemy. she didn’t come across a stranger many times. she never wanted me to leave her and when i was working you could pretty much find me in her room if you didn’t know where i was. it was never hard to find me and her somewhere together.
dot, I’ll see you again one day soon and I’ll come hug your neck again, I love you most.
