Obituary of David Corlice "Pete" Mitchell
Funeral services for David Corlice “Pete” Mitchell, age 77, of Roanoke, will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stanley Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 2nd.
Mr. Mitchell passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Bethany House in Auburn.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy Holloway (Chuck) of Roanoke; one granddaughter, Rylee Holloway of Roanoke; three sisters, Carolyn Rollins (Arnold) of Woodland, Louise Jackson (Gene) of Newnan, Ga., Colley Haynes (Douglas) of Newell; sister-in-law, JoAnn Mitchell of LaGrange, Ga.; brother-in-law, Bill Kirby of Oxford; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ray Jackson, Malcom Bassett, Sammy Hill , Mike Breed, Mac Baldwin, and Ted Strain. R. L. Farmer will be an Honorary Pallbearer.
A life-long Randolph County resident, Mr. Mitchell was born in Woodland on April 18, 1947, the son of David Aaron and Gertrude Brown Mitchell. He was an Army veteran and a long-time member of the National Guard. He was a member of North Main Congregational Christian Church and the Roanoke Kiwanis Club. He had been the location manager for Hall’s Propane Gas Company in Lanett. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alma Kirby; two brothers, Cecil Mitchell and Charlie Mitchell.
