Obituary of Mary Ann Mink
Funeral services for Mary Ann Mink, age 85, of Wadley will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paul Wilson officiating. There will be a private family burial.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM on Monday, September 16, 2024.
Mrs. Mink passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Tanner Medical Center – East Alabama in Wedowee.
Survivors include her cousins, Wanda Lucas (Richard) of Horseshoe Bend, Luann McQueen (Larry) of Auburn, Gloria Graham of Dadeville; Jane Cotney; Carla Jo Taylor (Stephen), Larry Sims (Jane), Jimmy Sims (Sheryl), and Danny Nail (MJ).
Pallbearers will be Richard Lucas, Mike Griffies, Robbie Hill, Kevin Lewis, Brady Wesson, and Will Griffies.
A Chambers County native, Mrs. Mink was born on December 10, 1938, the daughter of James “Jim” and Enoree Willoughby Sims. Mrs. Mink retired from Randolph County Hospital as business office manager. As a participant in RSA, Mary Ann led the effort with ARSEA/APEL to fund the retirement program for retired employees of the hospital after it sold. She also served as District Board Member for ARSEA/APEL. Mrs. Mink was also awarded the first Humanitarian Award given at Randolph County Hospital.
On July 17, 2016, Mrs. Mink was inducted into the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. She was honored for her accomplishments, service, and contributions to the lives of older Americans.
Mrs. Mink was a member of the Wadley First Baptist Church. She served as Sunday School teacher for adult women. Mary Ann was also the pianist for the church for many years. Her beautiful playing was her way of giving back in the worship of God in music. Mary Ann was the perfect example of a Christian in her actions. She was blessed with wonderful Christian parents, and they were the biggest influence on her life.
Mrs. Mink was a very respected loved member of the Wadley community. She stood ready to help anyone in the community that had a need.
Mary Ann was a blessing to anyone that knew her. She was very much loved by her family and friends and will be missed. Her memory will be cherished by all she touched during her long life.
Mrs. Mink was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Otis “Jim” Mink, Jr.; and cousins, Micheal Sims, Carolyn Callahan, Sarah Pearson, and Edwin Davis.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
