Obituary of John T. Brown

Funeral services for John T. Brown, age 87, of Roanoke will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Gerald Romine, Bro. Bill Calhoun, and Mark Brown officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, July 18, 2024. 

Mr. Brown passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Traylor’s Retirement Center in Roanoke.

Survivors include six children, Patricia Truitt and Darryl Strickland of Roanoke, Keith Brown and Louise Gregg of Pittsboro, NC, and Mark Brown and Benita Brown of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Matthew and Amanda Brown, Brandon and Kristin Truitt, and Emily and Marc Jackson; and six great-grandchildren, Liam Brown, Caroline Jackson, Nolan Brown, Collins Truitt, Suzannah Jackson, and William Jackson.

A Napoleon community native, Mr. Brown was born on May 14, 1937, the son of Henry and Minnie Coker Brown.  He was United States Air Force veteran and was a retired mechanic from West Point Pepperell.  Mr. Brown was an avid Alabama football fan and die-hard Republican.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane Edmondson Brown; one daughter, Nancy Brown; one son, Donny Truitt; and seven sisters and three brothers.
