The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00 PM on Saturday before services begin.

Mr. Maddux passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at his residence.

Survivors include his son-in-law, Lamar Bonner of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Brooke Bonner and Blair Bonner, both of Roanoke; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel Cohran, Lana Cohran, and Maddux Bonner; two sisters, Sylvia Smoot of Lanett and Bobbie Jean Harris of Jackson, AL; and one brother-in-law, Richard Thrower (Carolyn) of Opelika.

A Chambers County native, Mr. Maddux was born on June 20, 1934, the son of T. J. and Lillie Belle Coggans Maddux.  He was a United States Army veteran and was a member of Lowell Methodist Church where he had served as treasurer since the 1950s.  Mr. Maddux was a Godly man who loved his church and church family, had a joyful heart and loved people, and prayed for everyone.  He adored his family and doted on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mr. Maddux was an avid Alabama Football fan and also loved to fish, the outdoors, and his flowers and butterflies.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Thrower Maddux; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Bonner; brother, Walter Lewis Maddux; and sister, Francette Haynes.

Memorials may be floral but the family would prefer donations to the Lowell Methodist Church Youth Ministries Fund.
