Obituary of Cathryn Dye Madden

OBITUARY Funeral services for Mrs. Cathryn Dye Madden, of Roanoke, age 74, will be held Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 2:00 pm from the Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Willis officiating. Mrs. Madden will lie in state at the church one hour before the service. Burial to follow in Providence Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 1, 2010. Mrs. Madden died Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Traylor Nursing Home. Survivors include two daughter, Wanda (husband Rickie) Taylor and Donna Madden both from Roanoke; one son, Michael Madden of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Brandon Taylor and Ashleigh Hester both of Woodland; one sister, JoAnn Prescott of Woodland; one brother, Dale Dye of Woodland; six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Rickie Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Joey Hester, Eric Dye, Phillip Dye and Barney Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be the great grandchildren. Mrs. Madden was born September 9, 1935, the daughter of Mack and Ruby Brown Dye. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and had worked as a sewing machine operator for Roanoke Shirt Factory. Mrs. Madden was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Madden; one son, Larry Madden.
