The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 28 from 6:00-8:00.
The daughter of Grover and Eupora Harris, she was a life-long resident of Daviston. She married Gaines Meigs in 1959 and remained his devoted wife for over 60 years. She is survived by her two children, Keith (Stephanie) Meigs of Daviston and Tammy (Nick) Jackson of LaFayette; four grandchildren, Kyle (LaRae) Jackson of LaFayette, Tiffany (Jonathan) Pitchford of New Site, Katie (DJ) McElvy of LaFayette, and Lance (Erica) Meigs of Daviston; nine great-grandchildren, Anna Kate, Emmalee, Landry, and Rock Jackson, Jadon and Clara Ann Pitchford, Allison and Jacks McElvy, and Hunter Meigs; one sister, Carolyn Oliver of LaFayette, and one brother, Jerry (Shelia) Bice of Wadley.
After receiving her cosmetology license, she owned and operated the Wadley Beauty Shop for over 40 years. There, she adored talking with her customers and bragging about her grandchildren. She enjoyed growing flowers and had quite the green thumb. She loved sharing irises and cuts from her rose bushes with her friends, family and customers. She even grew bushels of tomatoes on Main Street in Wadley in front of her shop for everyone to enjoy, but her greatest delight was being Momma to her children and Nana to her grandchildren, putting no limit on spoiling. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Clara.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Bice, Kyle Jackson, DJ McElvy, Jadon Pitchford, Jonathan Pitchford, and Robert Royster.
Memorials may be floral, or donations may be made to Compassus Hospice in her memory.
