Obituary of Hazel Jeanette Pinkard Smith

Funeral services for Hazel Jeanette Pinkard Smith, age 90, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dexter Etchison and Pastor A. J. Pinkard officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00-5:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Mrs. Smith passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee.

Survivors include: two daughters, Janet Lynn Smith Jones of Mebane, NC, and Joy Elaine Smith Morgan of Roanoke; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Smith was born on January 15, 1934, the daughter of George Pate and Lucy Baldwin Pinkard.  She was a member of the Roanoke Church of the Nazarene where she served as church secretary for 50 years and also was a board member. During her working career, Mrs. Smith worked as a secretary for Dr. Primm and also an insurance clerk.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Winfred Smith; one brother, Hoyt Sanford Pinkard; and one sister, Latha Pinkard Etchison.
