Judy was a friend. She smiled , laughed with me and I would hold the door when she left work several times. I sent her a get well card when I found she was home sick. Just did not know when we loaded her to Our Heavenly Father. I loved her dearly. Grew up with her recall her 26th birthday. She got her first car. So happy. I loved her Mother and Dad they believed in me. Bought all my jewelry there. A scarbe watch band. A smokey topaz ring. A beautiful 14 karet gold diamond ring for my husband when he was in Baltimore, Maryland. The Sheppard's were so down to earth. Then she married a very handsome young man Mark. She really loved him. My sincere sympathy and prayers to the family. I got one will recall her kindness and love for people. I miss her .

Our birthdays are just a few days apart. Friends throughout childhood and our adult years. I will continue to think of you often, especially when I wear my anniversary bracelet which you helped choose for me. It seems like yesterday when I was a maid of honor in your wedding. It’s so hard to say goodbye.

I grew up spending a lot of time with Judy since she was my cousin. Our fathers were first cousins and very close. As a teenager, I worked at Sheppard’s with Hillis, Merle, and Judy during Christmas holidays and in the summer. When Hillis and Merle went on vacation, and were gone for a week or more, I stayed at their house with Judy because they didn’t want the house to remain empty. They stored some of the store’s stock in a little building behind the house and thought having someone there would prevent a break in. We had so much fun on those overnight visits! Working in the store with Judy was fun for me, also. I particularly loved the store at Christmas when downtown Roanoke was full of activity and Sheppard’s was a focal point. It seemed to me that Judy and her parents knew everyone in town. I have many, many wonderful memories of Judy and I will truly miss her.

I am so very saddened by this news. Judy was such a sweet and loving person. I have known her my entire life. I so loved and enjoyed going to Sheppard jewelry and talking and sharing laughter with Judy. She always took time with me to share a moment. She was always smiling and especially when she spoke of her family. She will be truly missed and I will always remember her bright smile. Prayers for her family today and the days ahead.
