Obituary of Robert Tyrone "Bob" Taylor, Sr.

Funeral services for Robert Tyrone “Bob” Taylor, Sr., age 77, of Wadley will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Hope Memorial Christian Church with Bro. Robert Benefield officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2023.  Mr. Taylor will lie in state at the church from 12:00-2:00 PM on Friday before services begin.

Mr. Taylor passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Phillis Taylor of Wadley; five sons, Robert Tyrone Taylor, Jr. (Stacy) of Wedowee, Stephen Taylor (Bobbie Jo), Shane Taylor (Nicki), and Chris Taylor (Keisha) all of Wadley, and Patrick Taylor (Christain) of Daviston; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Lacy of Lanett; and two brothers, Terry Taylor and Tim Taylor (Peggy), both of Wadley.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Taylor’s grandsons, Ian Taylor, Anthony Taylor, Scott Taylor, Trae Taylor, Kody Taylor, and Braxton Taylor.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Taylor was born on September 1, 1946, the son of Robert Vinson and Doris French Taylor.  He was a member of Hope Memorial Church and worked as a supervisor at Plantation Patterns.  Mr. Taylor was a hard worker who loved to sing praises to his Lord.  He was a dedicated husband of 57 years and a loving father.  His family was his most prized possession.  Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; a grandson, Gabe Taylor; and a sister, Ginger Rountree.
