We met John and his newphew Roy 6 years ago at his home while doing research on the Murphy family and other of his neighbors who had moved in 1869 from Weedowee to form a settlement, Alabama WI. John was gracious, friendly, a wonderful story teller, and amazingly independent well into his 90s. He was a very interesting and nice man!
