Obituary of Herbert Turner Burgess

Funeral services for Herbert Turner Burgess, age 74, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mike Brewer officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, October 7, 2022.

Mr. Burgess passed away Saturday, September 18, 2022, in Franklin, Georgia.

Survivors include his wife, Erlinda Flores Burgess of Roanoke; two daughters, Lisa Burgess Chaney (Marcel) of Atlanta and Valerie Burgess Sledge (Steven) of Roanoke; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Sherry Towler (Keith) and Marcie McCarley (Tracy), both of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be Tony Moore, Tre’ Rushton, Chris Towler, Wil Towler, Tracy McCarley, and Keith Towler.  Honorary pallbearers will be Keaton McCarley and Timmy Smith.

A Roanoke native, Mr. Burgess was born on May 4, 1948, the son of William Herbert and Mary Will Turner Burgess.  He was Catholic by faith and retired from the United States Air Force.  Mr. Burgess also volunteered with the Rock Mills Volunteer Fire Department.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Scotty Burgess.
