Obituary of Donald Robert Morris, SR.

OBITUARY Funeral services for, Donald Robert "Bobby" Morris, SR. age 73, of Roanoke, will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, March 31, 2012, from Roanoke First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Bachus officiating. He will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial to follow in Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 30, 2012. Pallbearers will be Jon Kramer, Michael Morris, David Lewis, William Morris, Shane Everett and Brantley Everett. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Cottle, Tex Porter and Merlyn Twiggs. Mr. Morris died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Wedowee Hospital. He is survived by three daughters, Dianne (husband David) Lewis of Royston, GA, Sherry (husband Shane) Everett of Roanoke, Erika (husband Jon) Kramer of Dallas, GA; one son, Dr. Donald Robert Morris, Jr. and wife Dr. Marisa Morris; one brother, Ellis Rowe (wife Stephanie) Morris; eight grandchildren. Mr. Morris was born January 22, 1939, the son of Hugh Lee Morris, SR, and Elsie Rowe Morris. He was a member of the Roanoke First United Methodist Church, and insurance salesman for Gulf Life and Independent Life. Mr. Morris served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, played on the all Army Basketball Team, huge Alabama fan, star basketball and football player, and played baseball at Handley High School.
