OBITUARY Mr. Sam Knight, of Flowery Branch, died on February 3, 2012, at his home. Beloved by all he knew him, he is now in the arms of the Lord. Sam is survived by sons Mark Knight (Maria) of Oxford and Tim Knight (Lori) of Woodstock and daughter, Chase Knight, of Atlanta. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Richie Knight, Matt Knight, Anna Knight, Zack Knight, and by brother Ed Knight (Marquerite) of Morrow. A Randolph County native, Mr. Knight was born November 22, 1942, son of Edward B. Knight, Sr. and Mary Lemmer Ussery Knight. From an early age he knew that he was to work full time for The Lord. His father was a Pastor and he was called to full time ministry work in his late twenties. After obtaining his Master's degree in Theology from Southeastern Seminary, he became the Associate Pastor at Morningside Baptist Church in Atlanta and served there for a year. Sam also served in the U.S. Marine Corps and had been a Georgia all-star football player at Ware County High School in Waycross. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Knight. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at 11:00 am CST/12 noon EST from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel, Roanoke, Alabama with Rev. Brian Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to services beginning at 10:00 am CST/11:00 am EST on Wednesday. Memorials may be floral or the family suggests contributions to a memorial fund (c/o Mark Knight, 95 Weslyan Way, Oxford, GA 30054).
