Obituary of George Henry Moncus

Funeral services for George Henry Moncus, age 84, of Wadley, will be held Monday, January 30, 2012, at 2:00 pm from Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Zenus Windsor officiating. Mr. Moncus will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Moncus will lie in state at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 29th. Mr. Moncus died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Bethany House in Auburn. Survivors include two nieces, Carol (husband, Terry) Long and Connie (husband, Phillip) Preston both of Opelika; five great nieces and nephews; and five great-great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Adam Long, Richard Long, Andrew Preston, Wayne Puckett, Lennie Houston, and Keith Marable. Mr. Moncus was born January 31, 1927, the son of Lee Preston and Carrie Dale Hinton Moncus. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and had been employed by Randolph County as a bus driver. Mr. Moncus was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethel Moncus; son, Gary Moncus; two sisters, Minnie Lou May and Willie Mae Shelton; one brother, Jesse Moncus.
