Obituary of Kathy L. Spears
Funeral services for Kathy L. Spears, age 66, of Roanoke, will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Emery and Rev. Chad Benefield officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to services beginning at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 26th.
Mrs. Spears passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at her home.
Survivors include two daughters, Stacy Barber of LaGrange, GA and Cassie Earl of Roanoke; two sons, Jason Benefield (Cindy) of Denver, CO and Chad Benefield (Leslie) of Roxboro, NC; one brother, Ken Brakebill (Rena) of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren (who affectionally called her “Nana”): Jared, Jordan, Micah, Cayden, Carter, Allie, Jackson, Hylee, Caleb and Isaac.
An Athens, Tennessee native, Mrs. Spears was born December 20, 1954, the daughter of Frank and Phyllis Miller Brakebill. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and had been employed with Mohawk Industries for over 40 years.
Memorials may be floral, or the family suggests contributions in her memory to Handley High School Band.
