Obituary of Bennie Ruth Chase Harper
Funeral services for Bennie Ruth Chase Harper, age 86, of Roanoke, will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at 3:00 PM at Roanoke First Baptist Church with Brother Scott Whaley and Sister Joan Young officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-3:00 PM on Sunday, August 1, 2021. Mrs. Harper will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services beginning on Sunday.
Mrs. Harper passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Arbor Springs Health and Rehab in Opelika.
Survivors include her three children, Venessa (Mark) Lowry of Roanoke, Robert L. Harper, Jr. (Tracie Campbell) of Roanoke and Jolanda (Danny) Barreto of Beauregard; 11 grandchildren, Dawn (Jason) Rooks, Blake (Jacki-Lyn) Lowry, Chase (Brittany) Lowry, Brett Lowry, Rob Harper, Bethany (Mitchell) Birchfield, Lauren (Michael) Morgan, Hunter (Tanna) Barreto, Konnor Stevenson, Kylie Jo Stevenson, and Kristopher Barreto; and eight great-grandchildren, Claire, Harrigan, Hollis, Jep, Etta, Wylie, Tillman, and Lulu.
Pallbearers will be Richard Blake Lowry, Benjamin Chase Lowry, Jason Douglas Rooks, Robert Glen Harper, Hunter Charles Barreto, James Konnor Stevenson, and Kristopher Daniel Barreto.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Harper was born on May 13, 1935, the daughter of Benny Norman and Julia Rose Etta Anderson Chase. Mrs. Harper attended Rock Stand School through the 10th grade then transferred to Handley High School where she graduated in 1953. She was a member of Roanoke First Baptist Church and was the bookkeeper for Harper Construction for 36 years. Mrs. Harper was also the owner of Harper House Interior Decorating. Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert L. Harper; two sisters, Sara Jewell Cook and Thelma Alene Hester; and three brothers, Jessie Norman Chase, Herbert Rudolph Chase, and Ralph Lynn Chase.
