Obituary of Maria Belen Velazquez

Funeral services for Maria Belen Velazquez, age 80, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Scott Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Velazquez passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.

Survivors include: seven children, Ignacio Velazquez, Belem Pinedo (Juan), Jose Velazquez (Theresa), Jose Luis, Ricardo (Lilia) Velazquez, Leandro Velazquez, and Lourdes ZaVala (Oscar); 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Velazquez’s grandsons.

A Dolores Nazas Durango native, Mrs. Velazquez was born on March 14, 1940, the daughter of Refujio Reyes and Ausencia Marroquin.  She was a member of the Catholic faith, attended Faith Baptist Church, and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Velazquez was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leandro Velazquez Alvarado.
