Obituary of Charlie Shelnutt
Funeral services for Charlie Shelnutt, age 77, of Roanoke, will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Derek Farr and Bro. Bill Prince, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor’s Crossroads Church of Christ Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 am on Thursday.
Mr. Shelnutt died Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Tanner East Alabama.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Edna Millsaps Shelnutt of Roanoke; one daughter, Teresa Farmer (Keith) of Woodland; two sons, Tim Shelnutt and Stephen Shelnutt, both of Robbinsville, NC; five grandchildren, Megan Luntz (Chris), Zander Shelnutt, Alex Shelnutt, Brooke Overton (Ross Head) and Heather Cox (Tim); three great-grandchildren, Dewey Cox, Lillie Luntz and Emma Mae Luntz.
Pallbearers will be Alex Shelnutt, Zander Shelnutt, Richard Shelnutt, Trent Shelnutt, Ross Head and Keith Farmer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Shelnutt, Rex Shelnutt and Keith Dunlap.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Shelnutt was born February 11, 1943, the son of Thomas Gross and Vester Lee Cofield Shelnutt. He was a member of Taylor’s Crossroads Church of Christ and had worked as a mechanic with Charlie’s Custom Body Shop. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Eugene Shelnutt; brothers/sisters, James, Ray, Kathryn, LaFonda, Terry and Paulette.
Memorials may be floral, or the family suggests contributions to Taylor’s Crossroads Church cemetery fund.
