I just learned of Paul's passing yesterday 3 Nov. 2020. Paul was a dear friend and Coast Guard shipmate. We sailed to Vietnam and back on the USCGC ADROSCOGGIN during 1967-1968. I learned a lot from him, and tried to assure him that his experience coming up through the enlisted ranks to the officer corps was invaluable to us Academy grads. "Swish" always had the respect of the captain, the wardroom and the whole crew. We last met at the 2017 50th anniversary shindig at Cape May. What a great time. Paul was my step-father. He was married to my Mom, Mary Betz. He was a good man who loved hos fishing, his Circle Red S Kudzu Farm and Chigger Ranch, and above all, his beloved Coast Guard. I learned a great deal about the outdoors from him, as well as a few life lessons. He will be missed.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
