Obituary of Susan Nelson

Funeral services for Susan Nelson, age 73, of Roanoke will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at 12:00 noon at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dan Waller and Rev. Paul Messer officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Mrs. Nelson passed away Monday, June 22, 2020, at Tanner-East Alabama Medical Center in Wedowee. Survivors include: two sons, Jeffrey Nelson (Kristin) of Lanett and Chris Nelson (Mandy) of Roanoke; three grandsons, Rush Nelson, Reid Nelson, and Ridge Nelson; and one granddaughter, Taylor Mathews. Pallbearers will be Lorenzo Foster, Dr. Russell Peterson, Jonathan Caldwell, Joaquin Ordonez, Randy Gibbs, Cody Butler, and Randy Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be former Piggly Wiggly employees and all law enforcement members. A Roanoke native, Mrs. Nelson was born on January 28, 1947, the daughter of Buck and Sue Awbrey Bailey. She was a member of Community Life Church and was the owner of Nelson Interior Design. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Silhouette Club, Garden Club, and Bible Study group at Community Life. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gary Nelson. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Community Life Church at 220 County Road 79, Roanoke, AL 36274.
