Obituary of Morgan McQueen Schuessler

Private family graveside services for Morgan McQueen “Mac” Schuessler, age 84, of Lanett, formerly of Roanoke, will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery on Friday, June 19. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at 2:00 PM EST at Spring Road Christian Church in Lanett, Alabama, with Pastor Ron Lewis, Pastor Dan Garrett, and Pastor David Bradshaw officiating. Mr. Schuessler passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at home with his family. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nan Enloe Schuessler; one daughter, Nan Swann Haverty; one son, Morgan McQueen Schuessler, Jr.; and seven grandchildren. A Roanoke native, Mr. Schuessler was born on August 7, 1935, the son of John Morgan and Lila Murfee Schuessler. He graduated from Handley High School, Georgia Tech, and Harvard Business School and also served in the United States Air Force. Over his 30-year corporate career, Mr. Schuessler worked for West Point Pepperell, served as Vice President at Gable Industries in Atlanta, Vice President of Finance for Arvida in Miami, Vice President at Coronet Industries in Dalton, CEO of Desoto Falls in Dalton, President of the Candlewick Division of Dixie Yarns in Chattanooga, and CFO of West Point Stevens. His final years were spent in Lanett in a beautiful home environment with his wife, Nan. Mr. Schuessler was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Morgan Schuessler and Sam Enloe Schuessler; and a brother, John Schuessler. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Point University Attn: Advancement Department, 507 W 10th St., West Point, GA 31833, or to Annandale Village at 3500 Annandale Village, Suwannee, GA 30024.
