OBITUARY
Funeral services for, Mr. David Sikes, age 55, of Roanoke, will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 4, 2011, from Forest Home Christian Church with Rev. Stoney Halsey officiating. Mr. Sikes will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial to follow in adjoining church cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home on Saturday, September 3, 2011.
Mr. Sikes died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Atlanta Medical Center of injuries sustained in an automobile wreck six weeks prior.
Mr. Sikes is survived by two sisters, Janet Sikes and Bethany Shelnutt both of Roanoke; two brothers, Danny (wife Lois) Sikes of Loudan, TN, Harry "Buddy" (wife Rachel) Sikes of Roanoke; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John Burson, James Burson, Josh Burson, Nathan Sikes, Curtis Sikes, Ben Carson, Matt Richardson, and J. D. Akins
Mr. Sikes was born, June 23, 1956, the son of James Nathan and Atha Joyce Barrett Sikes. He had been a textile weaver for Mohawk Industries. Mr. Sikes was preceded in death by his parents. Flowers will be accepted or donations to Forest Home Christian Church.
