Obituary of Lawrence Leon Sims

OBITUARY Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence Leon Sims, of Roanoke, age 65, will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at 2:00 pm from the Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Johnny Williams and Rev. Cleave Moore officiating. Burial to follow in Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Mr. Sims died Saturday, November 28, 2009. Survivors include his wife, Lemerle Pike Sims of Roanoke; his father, Homer Leon Sims of Alexander City; one daughter, Sherri Traylor of Roanoke; one son, Todd Sims of Wetumpka; one sister, Gail Mathis of Dadeville; three brothers, Larry Sims of Tazwell, GA, Travis Sims of Alexander City, Marty Sims of Wetumpka; two grandchildren; one great grandchild. Pallbearers will be Steve Williams, Brandon Dabbs, Marty Ivey, Matthew Thompson, Thomas Ivey and Eric Horn. Mr. Sims was born October 5, 1944, the son of Homer Leon and Myrtleen Spears Sims. He was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church and had worked as a loom auditor for Amoco Fabrics and Fibers. Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his mother.
