Obituary of Era Mae Lipham Mitchell

Funeral services for Era Mae Lipham Mitchell, age 87, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2020, at 1:30 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jamie Taylor and Bro. Tim Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM-1:30 PM on Sunday before services begin. Mrs. Mitchell passed away Friday, January 31, 2020, at Traylor’s Nursing Center in Roanoke. Survivors include: two daughters, Angela “Angie” M. Douglas of Florida and Debbie Prestridge (Craig) of Roanoke; one son, Michael E. Mitchell of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren, Deanna Hall (Lewis), Misty Harrelson (Michael), Kyle Mitchell, Josh Mitchell, Kristopher Jennings, Heather Franks, Phillip Douglas, IV, Blake Prestridge (Chelsea), Emily Prestridge, Laura Catherine Prestridge, and Rachel Prestridge; and 11 great-grandchildren, Ian Hall, Cole Hall, London Solivan, Danielle Mitchell, Caleb Mitchell, Anna Grace Mitchell, Faith Jennings, Jacob Jennings, Alexus Hedges, Alyssa Hedges, Jaclynne Douglas, and Baby Girl Prestridge due in June. Pallbearers will be Blake Prestridge, Jerry Spivey, Barry Cole, Danny Jones, Gene Jackson, and Steve Spratlin. A Randolph County native, Mrs. Mitchell was born on May 3, 1932, the daughter of William David and Letha Fowler Lipham. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and worked as a retail associate for Wal-Mart and Winn Dixie and also worked for the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl H. Mitchell; sister, Ina McCord; and great-grandchild, Lucas Solivan.
