Graveside services for Rebecca “Becky” Gay Brown, age 69, of Wadley will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at 11:00 AM CST at Wadley City Cemetery. Quattlebaum Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM CST on Friday, November 8, 2019.
Mrs. Brown passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Roanoke Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Roanoke, Alabama.
Survivors include her husband, Donnie Brown of Wadley; one daughter, Donna Brown Meadows of Valley; two grandchildren, Katie Meadows Harris (Cole) and Drew Meadows both of Valley; and one aunt, Toni Gay of Wadley.
Pallbearers will be Keith Rollins, Richie Fetner, Jim Hall, Chad Brown, Drew Meadows and Cole Harris.
A Wadley native, Mrs. Brown was born on January 9, 1950, the daughter of William Gaines and Mary Emma Cotney Gay. She was a member of Wadley Baptist Church and worked in the social service department at Traylor’s Nursing Home for 25 years. During her years there, she touched many lives through her selfless dedication to all of the residents. Prior to her work at the nursing home, she helped her mother operate Gay’s Craft House in Wadley. She was a very talented painter and artisan. She loved her family, her friends and her cats. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Rueben and Oda Cotney; and paternal grandparents, William Crawford Gay and Lois Ann Gay.
