Obituary of Margaret Louise Earl Self

Funeral services for Margaret Louise Earl Self, age 93, of Roanoke, will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 2:00 PM from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Rickey Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. Mrs. Self will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services beginning on Wednesday.

Mrs. Self passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.

She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Daugherty (husband, Billy) of Gadsden, AL, Carol Mapp (husband, Gene) of Northport, AL, and Patricia McCard (husband, Gregory) of Blountville, TN; two sons, Richard Allen Self (wife, Joanie) of Monroe, NC and Reuben D. Self (wife, Jody) of Roanoke, AL; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Self’s grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

A lifelong resident of Chambers County, Mrs. Self was born on February 20, 1926, the daughter of Shaffer and Ermer Lee Clack Earl. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and had worked as the lunchroom manager of Rock Mills Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Reuben Allen Self.
