Obituary of Hilton Wallace

Funeral services for Hilton Sparks Wallace, age 96, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Scott Whaley officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00-11:00 AM before services begin.

Mr. Wallace passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019, at his residence.

Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara Burroughs of Roanoke and Terry Lynn Hooper (husband, Walter) of Spring City, TN; three grandchildren, Auburn Brasher (husband, Jeffery) of Rome, GA, Walter Hooper IV (wife, Linda) of Chattanooga, TN, and Will Hooper (fiancé, Katie) of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Lola Foy Saxon of Graham; and two brothers, Rex Wallace of Newell and Wayne Wallace of Northport, AL.

Pallbearers will be Walter Hooper IV, Will Hooper, Jeff Brasher, Rance Wallace, Phil Waldrop, and Russ Wallace.

A longtime Randolph County residence, Mr. Wallace was born in Lineville, Alabama, on December 1, 1922, the son of Robert Milford and Lola Ophelia McKay Wallace.  He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel for the United States Army where he served in World War II and the Korean conflict.  Mr. Wallace attended Trinity Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 72 years, Annie Laurie Wallace; son-in-law, Bobby Burroughs; and two brothers and seven sisters.
