Obituary of Ellene Cato Mitchell

Funeral services for Ellene Cato Mitchell, age 87, of Wadley will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stanley Yarbrough officiating.   Burial will follow at Forrester’s Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30-2:00 PM on Friday before services begin.

Mrs. Mitchell passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Walker Brookwood Baptist Hospital in Jasper, Alabama.

Survivors include her husband, Donald G. Mitchell of Wadley; two daughters, Larraine Bailey of Wadley and Tandi Mitchell of Montgomery; one son, Gary Mitchell of Knoxville, TN; daughter-in-law, Karen Taylor of Wadley; three grandsons, James Douglas Taylor, Connor Taylor, and Josh Ray; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Powell of Roanoke; and one brother, Tommy Cato of Roanoke.

Pallbearers will be Doug Taylor, Gene Taylor, Malcom Bassett, Connor Taylor, Brent Noles, and Douglas Kirk.

A Randolph County native, Mrs. Mitchell was born on March 15, 1932, the daughter of Henry Cornelious and Loie Robinson Cato.  She was a member of Hope Memorial and was a retired Assistant Area Administrator for the State of Alabama Health Department where she served six counties.  Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Douglas Taylor and Kenneth Brown; three sons, Jim Taylor, Jon Taylor, and Marc Mitchell; one great-grandson, London Taylor; one sister, Ruth Calhoun; and two brothers, Wayne Cato and Ferris Cato.
