Obituary of Jim Cleveland

Jim Wood Cleveland, Jr. died peacefully at his home in Wadley on March 10, 2019. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Sue Cotney Cleveland. He is survived by his three sons, Jim W. Cleveland, l i l (Cindy), William A. Cleveland (Nancy), and John C. Cleveland (Mary Ann), his sister, Carol Cleveland, nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was born on February 9, 1925, in Lawley, Alabama. After serving in the United States Army in World War Il, he attended and graduated from Alabama

Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University). It was at Auburn that he met his wife and partner in life, Betty Sue. They married in 1950, and worked alongside each other in their family business for many years. A graveside service and celebration of his life is set for 11 a.m. on March 16, at Wadley Cemetery, followed by lunch at his home located at 501 Ashland Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wadley Baptist Church, Wadley, AL 36276.
